Retired Chief Petty Officer First Class Lloyd Blagdon of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away on September 15, 2026, at age 81.
Born in Harbour Breton, Newfoundland, Lloyd joined the Royal Canadian Navy at age 16 and served for 33 years, primarily as a submariner. In retirement, he enjoyed boating, diving, hunting, and fishing. He was a lifelong Mason, a former Masonic Grand Master, an active Shriner, a Distinguished Toastmaster, and a long-time participant in Alcoholics Anonymous.
He is remembered by his partner, Anna Burke; his children Dorothy Godwin and Lloyd Henry Blagdon; stepdaughter Leanna Marryatt; grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; siblings Marie Warren and Tom Blagdon; and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Bertram and Leah; sister Jane; son Patrick; and former wives Ada and Susan.
Visitation will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home in Halifax on September 25, with the funeral service there on September 26. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
