Lloyd Kennedy “Ken” Upton

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ken who passed away peacefully in his sleep at home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 61 years old.

Born and raised in Woodville, Ken was the son of George and Joyce Upton. The youngest of nine siblings, he grew up surrounded by family and carried those strong family values throughout his life.

Ken was a loving father to Katrina, Kristopher, and Kassidy, and a proud grandfather to Ezzat and Asmahan, who brought great joy to his life.

He was a cherished brother to Maggie, Harry, Tom, Heather, and Leona, and was predeceased by his siblings Bruce, Gerald, and Donna. Family was at the center of Ken’s life, and he valued the close relationships he shared with each of them.

He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Known for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic, Ken spent more than 25 years as a welder with Raglan. Whether at work, helping on the farm, or taking on projects at home, he approached every task with determination and pride.

Ken loved muscle cars, welding projects, and spending time in his garage. He enjoyed working with his hands and could often be found building, repairing, or creating something. A devoted dog lover, Ken shared a special bond with his faithful companion Lucy, whose loyalty and companionship brought him comfort, especially in his later years.

A lifelong friend to many and a friend to everyone he met, Ken had a gift for making people feel welcome. Known as a gentle giant, he was kind-hearted and generous, always willing to help those less fortunate and often giving what he could even when he had little himself. His easygoing nature and willingness to lend a hand created friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Ken will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit, sense of humor, and steadfast commitment to family and friends. His legacy of hard work, friendship, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and cared for him.

A celebration of life will be held at the Woodville legion on Friday September 4th at 3pm. With a service of remembrances commencing at 4pm.
