LOCKSTEIN, Mary E. Lockstein

It is with great sadness that we the family of Mary Elizabeth (nee Rothenberg) Lockstein wish to announce her peaceful passing at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, at the age of 66. Mary was born in Tillsonburg, daughter of the late Karl Rothenberg and survived by her loving mother Mary (nee McLean) Squires, of Tillsonburg. Also survived by her stepmother Joan Rothenberg, of Tillsonburg. Mary will be remembered as kind and thoughtful by her friends, co-workers and relatives. She was strong willed and possessed a witty sense of humour Above all else, Mary will be remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mary is dearly missed by her husband of 50 years, Terry A. Lockstein, of Tillsonburg. Loving mother to David Lockstein, of Tillsonburg and predeceased by her son Daniel (June 19, 2010). Always a caring grandmother to Anthony (his son Daniel), Alex, Ryan, Asa, and Nathan. Much-loved sister to Melodye (Greg), Bradley, Heather (Marvin), Mark (Carol), late Darwyn (2022) (surviving wife Irene); and stepsiblings Darren Bearss and Dana (Mark Schneider). Also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by her stepfather Bill Squires and by her in-laws Ralph (2002) and Averil Lockstein (2024).

Friends, neighbours and relatives are invited by the Lockstein family to public visitation on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A Funeral Service to honour her life will follow on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Ross Hibberd (retired). Interment follows in Delmer Cemetery, beside Daniel. All funeral attendees are invited to join the family for a reception at the Carriage Hall (25 Brock St. W., Tillsonburg) immediately following the interment.
