LUBBERTS, John Lubberts
September 22, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of John Lubberts announce his passing on September 22, 2025. John was born April 22, 1934 in Holland to Arend and Klazina Lubberts. He was the second oldest and eldest son of 12 children. John is predeceased by his loving wife Patricia (nee Hartman) and son David. Cherished father of Susie and her companion Yvon Landry. He is the proud Poppa Johnny to Rob and Josh (Jessie) Macdonald and great Poppa to Lydia and Athena. John is survived by his siblings Ali Pol, Cindy (Ken) Grant, Rika Lubberts, Linda (Paul) Hartman, Fred (Marilou) Lubberts, Mary Riel and numerous nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by siblings Geraldine Docker, Jack, Gerrit, Albert and Don Lubberts. He is also predeceased by in-laws Wes Pol, Tod Docker, Ginette Lubberts, Ken Riel, Jim and Marg Hartman. John will be missed by long- time family friend Gayle Martineau and many nieces and nephews.
John worked for the Buffalo Canoe Club for many years before opening his own carpentry business. He had the ability to draw out architectural designs of houses, canoes, campers and many other projects just from memory and imagination, then bring them to life with his bare hands. He was a true workman, jack of all trades kind of guy who could figure out anything. John was known for his long conversations with whomever would listen. Many of those stories were about his hunting and fishing adventures.
John was a Life Member of the Ridgeway Lion’s Club and was always on hand to help out with any of their fundraisers.
Special thanks to the staff at Garrison Place and Niagara Falls Hospital.
