LUGOSSY, Cheryl Pauline (nee Meier)

With the heaviest of hearts, in her 70th year, we announce the passing of our mom, partner, sister, aunt, and Nana, Cheryl, on November 18, 2025.

Cheryl is survived by her partner of nearly 27 years, Tom Dudar, and by her children Mallory, Renee (Ryan Kane), and Sean (Quinn Cathcart). She also leaves her stepchildren Brittney (Graeme Stewart-Wilson), Nicholas (Emily Edward), and Aaron (Isla Gole).

Predeceased by her parents Erwin and Fay Meier, Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her siblings Byron (Lynn), Barry (Leeanna), and Susan (Dan Shaw).

She will be deeply missed as Nana to Mateo, Marisa, Kaden, and Piper, with two more grandchildren on the way who will grow up hearing stories of her love.

Cheryl lived her life with kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. She had a rare gift for listening without judgment and offering comfort, carrying people through their hardest moments with compassion and an instinct to put others first. To know her was to feel understood, and her absence leaves a space no one else can fill.

She loved music; She and Tom would often go out for supper while listening to live bands and artists around Durham Region or attending the occasional concert in Toronto.

But her happiest moments were with her grandchildren — whether in Hamilton, Cobourg, Toronto, or at home in Oshawa. They meant everything to her.

Cheryl’s warmth, generosity, and steady presence will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
