LYCETT , Fredrick Dayne Lycett
April 11, 1942 - July 24, 2025
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dayne Lycett, aged 83, on July 24, 2025, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville. He was surrounded by those he loved most—his devoted wife of 63 years, Linda, his daughter Deneen (Randy), and his son Dayne (Tracy), holding his hands
as he took his final breath. His son Elgin, though not present at the hospital, was close in heart and spirit during Dayne’s final moments.
Born in Port Loring, Parry Sound on April 11, 1942, Dayne was the beloved son of William and Lois Lycett, both predeceased. He lived a life defined by hard work, deep loyalty, and unwavering love for his family.
Dayne took great pride in his family, never missing an opportunity to talk about his ten grandchildren (one predeceased), fourteen great-grandchildren, and the joy of learning about one more on the way—whose gender he was happily informed of before his passing. His family was his world, and the love he shared with them will be carried forward for generations.
A dedicated and passionate worker, Dayne continued working until the age of 79. For him, it was easy—he loved the work and the people alongside him. At 80, he even went out for “one last job” with his son and grandson, a true testament to his spirit and dedication.
Thursday nights were sacred, as he looked forward to poker with “the guys”—a tradition full of laughter, camaraderie, and countless memories.
Dayne will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him. His gentle heart, strong hands, and warm smile leave a lasting legacy.
A graveside service will be held on August 16th at 12:45 PM at Orono Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Memorial Park Clubhouse in Bowmanville. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of this incredible man.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oshawa Cancer Unit, in honor of Dayne’s memory.
