Passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a brief illness at Brightshores Health System, Southampton on July 31st, 2026 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late John MacAulay. Carol is survived by her children Michele (Brock), Ian, Marc (Hilary), as well as her grandsons Josh Turcotte (Jenna), Brett Turcotte (Joanie), Ben MacAulay (Matthea), Liam MacAulay (Amanda) and Rhys MacAulay. A special Gigi to MacAulay, Remy, Maeve and Harper Turcotte. Carol Jane MacAulay is predeceased by her parents Alan and Edith Matheson and in-laws Laird and Wilma MacAulay.
Throughout her life Carol was known for her fierce independent nature and sharp wit. She called it as she saw it. She was a dedicated nurse and enjoyed a career spanning 26 years at Grey Bruce Health Services (Brightshores Health System) in Owen Sound. Carol and John loved to travel and Carol continued that tradition after John passed. She was always up for a road trip and a good lunch along the way. Her love of gardening still shows in her beautiful perennial beds that many a picture has been taken of. We will all miss the hello’s and visits on the front veranda. Carol was always a gracious host and welcomed everyone with open arms.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday September 19th in the Lakeside Room at the Walker House in Southampton from 11:30 – 3:00 pm.
