MACDONELL, Mary Louise MacDonell

With heavy hearts, the family of Mary Lou MacDonell announces her peaceful passing on July 23, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born in Judique, Nova Scotia, Mary Lou was the cherished daughter of the late Margaret and Angus A. MacDonnell. She was a proud Cape Bretoner, known for her warmth, kindness, and quiet strength.

Mary Lou was the beloved wife of Blaise MacDonell, with whom she shared 66 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion.

She is predeceased by her brothers Hugh MacDonnell, John Leo MacDonnell, and Allan MacDonnell, who she held dear throughout her life.

Mary Lou leaves behind a loving legacy through her children: Carmel (Ed), Paul (Lynn), Margaret (David), and David (Joan). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jenna, Shelby, Lauren, Rachel, Ethan, Cameron, Abby, and Blaise, and great-grandmother to Griffin, all of whom brought immense joy to her life and will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway 2, Courtice on Sunday July 27 from 4-6 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 3800 Courtice Rd. N. Courtice on Monday July 28 at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, in her memory.

Mary Lou will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unconditional love, and the beautiful way she touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
