MACLEOD, Linda MacLeod
July 10, 1944 - June 8, 2026
We are heartbroken to announce the loss of our beloved Linda Margaret MacLeod, who passed away on June 8, 2026. Linda fought a lifelong, valiant battle with schizoaffective disorder. Though the illness was often difficult to bear, Linda approached life with a kind heart, zest for life, and a sense of humor.
Linda was born July 10, 1944 in London, Ontario to Dorothy and Lorne MacLeod in London Ontario, the third of four daughters named Aileen, Janet and Catherine. She grew up in a musical family and excelled in trumpet, violin and organ. Later in life, she sang in the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir – she even sang a solo at Massey Hall in downtown Toronto. In the high school band at Central Elgin Collegiate Institute, she met Paul, her future husband. They had two children, Paula in 1967 and Kevin in 1971.
Linda was a devoted mother and home maker. Throughout her life she struggled with many health problems, including mental health issues, courageously and valiantly. Her ability to find an excellent health team network was invaluable to her. Especially important to her was the care provided by her psychiatrist Dr. Robyn Waxman at Ontario Shores.
Throughout her life she pursued a passion for the arts, especially music. She would take her grandchildren to many concerts and musicals. She valued her children and seven grandchildren (Jessica, Joshua, Nathan, Ashley, Myah, Zachary and Ethan) and loved them dearly. She wrote letters to them, gave them gifts, visited them, and cheered them on in life. Her kind and tender heart was felt by all. She touched people she came in contact with and would give her last dollar to anyone who asked. She had a lot of support from friends and family members throughout the years who helped her to achieve her goal of independent living.
She died on June 8, 2026 in her home in Oshawa. The family is planning a celebration of her life on her birthday on July 10, 2026 in Uxbridge, Ontario. Please contact Kevin Harmer for details at Kevin.Harmer@live.ca.
We would like to give special recognition to Dr. Robyn Waxman for the years of dedicated psychiatric care provided to Linda. Her professionalism, kindness, and steadfast support meant the world to Linda and to the entire family.
A Celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 1p.m. to 4p.m. at the Sandford Community Center, 433 Sandford Rd, Uxbridge.
