Peacefully at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry on Monday August 18, 2025 at the age of 72. Loving husband of Karin (née Nelson). Beloved son of the late Murdie and Elsie MacMillan. Dear brother of Kathryn MacMillan. Uncle of Mary (Adam Nardi) and Emily. Jim enjoyed a long career with the Durham Board of Education, as a public school teacher. He taught in Cannington, Oshawa, and in Port Perry at R.H. Cornish and S.A Cawker. After retirement, Jim and Karin pursued their love of antiques and opened their antique store “Merry Mac’s Antiques and Collectibles” in Argyle, Ontario. A venture enjoyed for 12 years. Throughout his life Jim greatly enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Canal Lake. Blessed with a natural ear for music, Jim embraced all styles with equal passion and delight. Jim also loved the Arts. He was very well read with a tremendous ability to retain facts making him hard to beat when playing Trivial Pursuit. On behalf of the family a special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Rothenstein – Oncologist at Lakeridge Health Oshawa – Cancer Centre for his care and compassion as well as the doctors, nurse, staff and volunteers at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry. Your care will never be forgotten. Cremation arrangements entrusted to McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558). Donations in memory of Jim to Oak Ridges Hospice or Lakeridge Health Foundation Oncology. As per Jim’s wishes, there won’t be a formal funeral service.
