MAGERMAN, Sue Magerman

MAGERMAN, Susan – It is with unimaginable sorrow that we announce the loss of Susan Magerman on June 5, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Sue passed peacefully surrounded by her loving friends and family.

Beloved wife of Zamy Bayer and adoring mother of Aaron. Loving daughter of the late Alfred and Barbara Magerman, and daughter-in-law of Jeff and Edie Bayer. Devoted sister and sister-in-law to Ken and Terri, Charles and Perri-Anne, Deborah, Nessa and Lance, and Ilana and Allan. Treasured aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Cherished by her many friends as well as her mother’s later companion Barney.

Susan was an inspiring educator and mentor, dedicating over 30 years to teaching and supporting at-risk youth across Toronto. She was also a gifted screenwriter and playwright. Her kindness, strength, laughter, and love have touched countless lives. The emptiness she leaves behind is immeasurable.

A special thanks to Dr. Esther Bui for her care and support through this difficult time.

In honour of Sue’s unwavering commitment to feminism and advocacy for justice and equity, a fund has been established to support the study of Women’s Brain Health at the University of Toronto.
