MALISZEWSKI, Ian Maliszewski

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear beloved brother Ian at the Sault Area Hospital.

Remembered by his loving siblings Jan Robinson (Ron) of Sault Ste. Marie, Frank Maliszewski of Sault Ste. Marie, Marlyn Kasten (Kim) of Ayden, North Carolina, Veronica Carroll (Beverly) of Vancouver Island.

Ian Maliszewski will be missed by his son, Christopher of Alberta, his nephews Michael Robinson of Sault Ste. Marie and Aaron Gaitens (Cheri) of Imperial, Missouri, late Christian Gaitens, and niece Dr. Faye Guffey (Josh) of St. Louis, Missouri.

We take comfort in knowing that Ian is now reunited with his mother and father, Janet Maliszewski (nee Carroll) and Zygmunt Maliszewski.

We will always remember Ian for his kindness and generosity and sharp wit and delightful sense of humour. And what a storyteller he was! His brother-in-law, Ron would attest to that, a continuous talker.

Growing up in Echo Bay Ian spent years playing local hockey, baseball and soccer. As he moved onto Lakeway Highschool in the Sault he continued to play actively in all of his three cherished sports. Lastly, always an avid Green Bay Packers fan!

Ian was a loving uncle to Christian and Aaron, who on a few occasions took them to see the Toronto Blue Jays at Exhibition Stadium.

Ian worked at Weyerhaeuser in Grande Prairie for 30 plus years and so loved the north country of Alberta. He retired early and returned to Sault Ste. Marie.

In honour of Ian’s wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
