Robert “Bobby” Dennis Mallion, 75, of Barrie, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at Hospice Simcoe. Born July 4, 1950, he was predeceased by his parents, Robert (1972) and Almira (2008) Mallion. Robert is survived by his loving daughters, Pamela (Justin) and Cynthia (Matthew), and his cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Andrew, Madison, Audrey, and Carly. He also leaves behind his longtime companion and best friend, Pauline Hickling, and her children, Corey, Lauren (Sloane).
A proud Barrie native, Robert attended Oakley Park Public School, North Collegiate, and Eastview Secondary School. His athletic talents earned him a hockey scholarship at RPI. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a skilled athlete, playing goalie for Barrie minor hockey teams and contributing to the Lakeview Dairy fastball team’s 1975 OASA Intermediate “A” championship victory.
An avid sports fan, he loved the Dodgers, Chicago Blackhawks, golf, curling, and college football. Robert dedicated his career to Barrie Hydro as an Engineering Technologist, retiring in 2006. He was a devoted father, sharing his love of travel with his daughters, and a doting grandfather, a constant presence at his grandchildren’s sporting events. Known for his gift of gab, strong handshake, and great patience, Robert will be deeply missed by his many friends and the Barrie community.
A funeral service will be held August 11, 2025, at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, followed by a private burial. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice Simcoe or a charity of choice. Online condolences at www.steckleygooderham.com.
