It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Claire Jones (nee Dean) in hospital on Saturday Aug 15, 2026 in her 91st year. We know she is now reunited with her beloved husband and friend, the late Mervyn Jones (2002).
Margaret was the loving mother of Mark (Gillian) and Kevin, and beloved Nana to Connor and Alison.
Daughter of the late Carl and Isobel Dean and dear sister to Janet Cunningham (late David) of Guelph ON and Ken Dean (Luz) of Delta BC. She leaves behind treasured nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, (including the late Ryan Cunningham), as well as many cherished good friends.
Margaret was a retired teacher, who taught many years at Agincourt PS, Queensway PS and Centennial PS. Upon retirement, she soon became a very devoted and involved Nana to her grandchildren, spending time at hockey rinks, dance competitions and ball diamonds cheering on her grandkids. She enjoyed spending time with each grandchild while they grew up, planning day trips or cooking classes – even sharing her famous chocolate chip cookie recipe and technique with her grand-daughter!
The family would like to send a very special thank you to the exceptional staff at Bridlewood Trails for their loving care and support over the past number of years.
Friends and family are invited to the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Thursday September 10 at 11:30am for a visitation, followed by a service to be held at 1pm. A reception will follow after the service. A private internment will occur at the Pinecrest cemetery.
