Marie Virtue was born February 16, 1936, at home on Haddlington Rd. in Tory Hill, Ontario, and died September 30, 2026, at the age of 90, passing away peacefully at home in Havelock, Ontario.

Predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Virtue, Marie was the partner of Ken Whitney.

Marie was a beloved mother to Debi (Tom), Reid (Debbie), Nanci (Allan), Mary Anne (Gary), John (Margo), and Sharon (Rob). Her devotion to family was steady and unmistakable, expressed in the countless ways she showed up, cared, and made room for those she loved.

A cherished Grandma, Marie leaves behind Chad, Tara, Troy (Sarah), Melanie (Dave), Maggie (Chad), Jenny, Rachel, Lisa, Kaitlin (Tony), Alex, Lucas, and Nigel, as well as ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Benjamin.

Marie was a dear sister to Arlene (Alec), and was predeceased by her siblings Ron, Ailene, and Donald.

Kind-hearted and quietly brave, Marie brought warmth and steadiness to everyday life. It was common to see her out in the yard tending to her gardens, and her capable hands could repair and fix anything—simple, practical gifts that reflected both her generosity and her strength.

Marie was an active member of the Havelock Community Seniors Club and the local United Church, where her presence and participation were valued and will be sincerely missed.

As per Marie’s request, aquamation will take place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
