MARKEWICH, Wade Markewich

At the age of 61, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, Wade Alan Markewich peacefully passed away at KGH, surrounded by love. In his final moments, he shared special time holding tight and then gently releasing the hands of his family, letting go with grace and peace.

Wade will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Diana, and his sons, Kenn and Keith, who will carry Wadeโ€™s spirit, strength, and love forward through their lives. He will also be lovingly remembered by his mother, Leona; his brother, Ryan, and family; his sister, Angela, and family; his Aunt Noreen and family; and his Aunt Gloria and family. Wade was predeceased by his father, Albert (Al) Markewich, and by his grandparents.

Wade will be remembered by many for his kindness, gentleness, and thoughtful ways. His huge, loving heart made him an absolute beauty to live life with, being strong inside and out. He had a quiet faith that carried him through life and never left him, even in his hardest days. Wade was a handyman who could fix just about anything (and usually did), a damn good cook, and a man who loved nature, fishing, camping, gardening and simple moments. His unconditional love for his family was his greatest pride, and his awesome smile always glowed with warmth, humour, and strength. Wade had a way of making things feel okay, often without saying much at all.

Wadeโ€™s life was not defined by illnesses; it was by love, loyalty, hard work, faith, and heart. We will celebrate his life by fixing whatโ€™s broken, cooking for those we love, spending time outdoors, gardening, laughing when we can, and holding our family a little tighterโ€”just like Wade always did. We take comfort knowing he is now at peace, free from pain, wrapped in Godโ€™s love, and watching over us.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to his special friends Terry and Janet Dillion and their family; Dr. Prozesky; the KGH medical team; BC Cancer Medical Team; the palliative care teams both in the community and at KGH; Interior Medical Team (IMT); Canadian Red Cross and their volunteers;BC Ambulance; East Kelowna Firefighters; and all the friends who supported Wade and Diana during his illnesses and through this time of sorrow.

In lieu of flowers, the familyย ask that donations be made toย BC Cancer Sindi Ahluwalia Hawkins Centre for the Southern Interior,ย or toย BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, or toย Liver Canada, or to theย Canadian Red Cross.

Once a date isย confirmed, a celebration of Wadeโ€™s life will be held in Kelowna, BC, either in 2025 or in 2026. More information will be posted
