PILON, Anne Pilon

She was born on October 12, 1926, in Limerick, Sask. and passed away January 17, 2026, at Springvalley Care Centre with her family by her side.
Anne married Paul Pilon on FebruaryΒ 21, 1944,Β in Limerick, Sask., they lived in Gravelbourg, Sask.Β where Gloria, Dennis,Β and Diane were born.Β In 1948,Β they moved to BC and eventually ended up in Prince George where Linda, Camille,Β and Brad were born.
In the summer of 1961, they moved their family to Kelowna, BCΒ to start a new life close to AnneβsΒ mother, sister Helen (Cec) and brother Joe (Mary) Gregory and their families.
A hard-working mother raising her family,Β Anne also worked at the Hudsons Bay as a salesclerk;Β taught Catechism;Β wasΒ a devoted member and President of the CWL;Β prepared countless Sunday breakfasts for the congregation;Β readΒ at Sunday Mass; andΒ was a participant at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.Β Anne served as a βBrown Owlβ for many years, teaching and guiding Brownies, she also volunteered at the Cottonwoods Gift Shop.
Anne loved the game of Bridge, most evenings were spent playing with Cec and Helen, Bjornsonβs, family and friends.
Once Anne was introduced to Duplicate Bridge,Β it became her passion which she so enjoyed with her daughters, and all her playing partners.Β Anne and Diane won the Canadian Championship and went to Albuquerque to compete in the World finals β a very cherished memory.Β Anne was a respected and βfeared opponentβ at Duplicate,Β and she enjoyed revisiting her accomplishments later in life.
When Anne could no longer drive to church, she attendedΒ daily Mass, first with Bishop Cooney and later with Father Jim at Wedgewood where she lived.
Anne never stopped being involved, after moving to Springvalley Care Center in March 2024,Β she enjoyed participating in the daily activities and was a positive asset to them all.Β How blessed was she to have a family Priest β Father Wayne (her nephew)Β βΒ bring her communion every week at the retirement home.Β Anne was a devout Catholic.
Always a card player, she amazingly played Gin Rummy very well until the last couple of months.Β She loved playing crib or just hanging out with her granddaughter Kim.
She always said, βYou guys found the best place for meβ.
Anne leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
Anne was a loving mother toΒ her children, Gloria (Ron), Dennis (Phyllis), Diane, Linda (Bob), Camille (Al), and Brad (Pam); her grandchildren, Lisa, Coli, Gerry, Dan, Kimberley, Tricia, Connie, Tracy, Brent, Keith, Marcie, Shane, Terry, and Michael; and by 23 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and four great-great-great-grandchildren.Β Anne was predeceased byΒ her husband,Β Paul,Β in 1989Β andΒ her daughter,Β Gloria,Β in 2014,Β her parentsΒ Anna and Joseph Gregory and her siblings Joe Gregory, Mary Pfliger, Helen Pfliger, Al Hurley, Johnny Gregory.
Β A Funeral Mass, with Father Wayne Pfliger presiding,Β will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM (PST), atΒ Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Ave. Kelowna, BC.Β If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view in 3-5 days.
A reception will be held in the Reception Hall at ICC following the Mass.
