MARSHALL, Frances Ileene McFee Marshall
October 17, 1930 - July 8, 2025
Frances Ileene McFee Marshall, 94, passed peacefully at The Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill, one block from her family home where she lived for 64 years. Born and raised on a farm in Hillsburg, Ontario, Fran was the youngest of six children and the only daughter. Her rural roots combined with being a child during the Depression shaped a woman of great strength, resilience, and faith.
During high school in Orangeville, Ontario, she met the love of her life, Murray Marshall. These “two peas in a pod” were happily together on earth until Murray’s passing in 2009. Their enviable marriage was bridging with love and fun as they raised three children (and beagle puppies), spent time at their beloved country properties, and traveled extensively in Europe and Canada where they collected unique crafts and an exemplary Indigenous art collection. When Murray became critically ill with a rare neurological disease, Frances was his devoted caregiver for 11 years.
Not only was Fran an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother, she excelled in her career as an office manager which began at Dufferin Hospital in Orangeville. After marriage, she worked in Toronto where she supported her husband through his architectural studies and then in the 1970s returned to work.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Gregory, Diane (Bob), Joan (Ramon) and her three beautiful grandchildren whom she absolutely adored – Janine, Cailey, and Alexandra.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the fall at Marshall Funeral Home in Richmond Hill. Donations in Fran’s memory can be made to The Hill House Hospice, CNIB, and the Ontario Humane Society.
