In Loving Memory of Lorne Sidney Marshall

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Marshall, who passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born on June 02 in Oshawa, Lorne was a devoted husband, of Carol, father of Michelle (Igor Bakracevski), Susan (Dave Kewin), and the late Lindsay Marshall. Grandfather to Nikolas Bakracevski, Marshall Kewin, Sofia Bakracevski, and Jackson Jamieson. Brother to the late Joyce (Bob Zybala).

He was known for his strength, kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family. Throughout his life, he worked as a Human Resource Manager at the Oshawa Public Utilities for 35 years. Lorne took great pride in providing for and supporting those he loved. Lorne was always friendly and social, as evidenced by him saying hi to everyone when out in public, and took offense when the exchange was not reciprocated.

Lorne was an active member of his community, serving on the selection committee of the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame from 1996-2011. Lorne loved to watch hockey and golf. Lorne frequently travelled to Santee SC for his annual golf trip with Carol, and on occasion with his 2 sons-in-law, creating countless memories that will be treasured forever.

Lorne was the president of the Oshawa Historical Society and received the 2012 Ontario Volunteer Award. Lorne received the Trans Canada Route Certificate of Achievement for running the equivalent of across Canada, he tracked his progression at the Oshawa Civic Recreational Complex. Lorne was also a Mason and an active Legion member.

Family was very important to Lorne. He was very patriotic to his Country, you would always find Lorne laying a wreath and attending the annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph, honouring his country and those that served.

Lorne leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in the memories we shared and the lasting impact he made on our lives.

Private interment will take place at Union Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his parents and daughter, Lindsay. A Celebration of Life will be held June 27, 2026, 2pm-5pm at his daughter, Michelle’s residence.
