With sadness, we share the passing of Matthew Hendrik VanKooten (Burford, Ontario). Matthew, born on April 27, 1993, passed away on October 12, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Matthew for his warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While he will be deeply missed, the influence he had on the lives around him remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Rena and Carvell Harris. He is survived by: his child Maddison; his parents, Micheal VanKooten (Robin) and Denise Button (Ken); his siblings, Kayla Howe (Matthew) and Alex VanKooten; and his uncles, Henry (Liz) and Greg.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home (134 King St, Burford, ON N0E1A0). A reception will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in Matt’s memory may be made to a trust fund for Maddison.
