It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of May Charlebois, at Extendicare on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born to parents Edouardina (née Boulanger) and Phélisa Coderre on February 4, 1931, in Val Gagné, Ontario. May had 9 brothers and 5 sisters.

In 1952, she married Eugène Charlebois and they started a family with their children Joanne (Yvon) and Daniel. She is the grandmother of France Grenier and Marc-André Grenier, Patrick Hudkins, and Mathieux Charlebois and great-grandmother of Khloé, Jonah, and Brielle Grenier.

May is also survived by her brother Yvon Coderre (late Marva), her sisters Reina Racicot (late Raymond), Yvonne Godin (Gerry), and Thérèse Rainville (Fidèle), as well as her Charlebois brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Emilien (Ghislaine), Rita (late Marcel Michel), and Noëlla (late Hector).

She was predeceased by her husband Eugène (2022), her parents Edouardina and Phélisa Coderre, her brothers Léo, Roger, Henri, Arthur, Aimé, René, Gilbert, and Claude Coderre, and her sisters Rose Bellemare and Claire Fortier.

May was a talented individual who enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and crafting snowflakes for Christmas trees. She loved playing cribs, curling, fishing for walleyes at Lake Abitibi, and spending time at her family’s cottage during the fall hunting season.

May and Eugène spent many winters in Florida, where they made lifelong friendships playing pétanque and enjoying happy hours with family and friends. They also traveled across Canada in their motorhome, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, always accompanied by their brothers, sisters, and dear friends from Iroquois Falls.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish. A reception will follow in the Lessard Reception Center. Burial will follow in Val Gagné. The family will receive condolences on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the LESSARD Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Timmins Food Bank or St. Joseph Parish.
