MCGLADREY , Derek Michael McGladrey

With deep sadness in our hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Son, Father and Grandfather, Derek Michael McGladrey. Derek passed peacefully with his Wife Jennifer by his side on August 7th, 2025 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Derek leaves behind Jennifer his Wife of 30 years, his Mother Janet McGladrey, Sister Martha Burgess (Dan), Children Emily Augerman (Ryan), Grace McGladrey (Thomas) and James McGladrey, his adored Granddaughter Aubree, his Nephew Ryan Sarkany and Niece Amy Sarkany (Brendan). He is pre deceased by his Father Ronald McGladrey.
Derek will also be missed by his beloved pets, Sadie, Eddie, Skeeter, Scarlett, Bruce, Roy, Gemma and Ziggy.

Derek has had many roles over the years, bartender, commercial pilot, meat manager, stay at home Dad, hockey coach with both the Oakville Hornets and Oakville Rangers, hockey trainer and driver examiner.
He loved his family and friends so much and was so blessed to have such a big circle. Derek loved jokes, music and spending time with those he loved. He loved hockey and being a big part of his children’s teams. Coach D made hockey fun for all his players. Derek loved spending time with his horses and being at the barn, watching his daughter compete and being a show Dad. He also loved cheering his granddaughter on with her many sports or just snuggling with her.
Derek was very lucky to share his love of aviation with his son in law and enjoyed his chats with him. The King leaves behind a big hole in our lives and will be missed terribly.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. We love you more Derek and will miss you always ♥️

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7th, 1-4 pm at The Holiday Inn Burlington, 3063 South Service Road.
