Hazel Mary McGuire

Peacefully at Marianhill – Hospice on Thursday, April 16th, 2026 at the age of 100 years. Hazel Mary McGuire (nee Downey) of Pembroke, beloved wife of the late Philip Joseph McGuire. Loving mother of Stanley (Diane) of Ottawa, Myrina (Peter) Anagnostakos of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Richard (Paddy) of Pembroke. Caring grandmother of Christian (Bridget) McGuire of Ottawa, Sheana McGuire of Toronto, Courtney (Joe) Quinn of Pembroke, Korin (Louis) Melizan of Buckhorn, ON, and Brianne McGuire of Pembroke. Caring great-grandmother of Noemi, Georgia and Harriet Melizan, all of Buckhorn, ON. Predeceased by parents Edward and Ida Downey (nee Perrault), by brother Edgar (Aggie) Downey, by sister Mary (Bert) Lapierre and by half siblings Clarence, Beatrice, Tommy and Vera Downey; and Andrew, Cecil, Roy and Alma McDonald. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Neville Funeral Home, 491 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026 from 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph on Friday, April 24th, 2026 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, St. Joseph. A special thank you to Barb Lapierre-Lovely for being a caregiver to Hazel at Supples Landing all these years. A special thank-you to Supples Landing Staff, and friends, Hazel’s home for past 13 years and Marianhill Hospice for such wonderful care.
