MCKNIGHT, Gordon George McKnight
February 17, 1947 - March 23, 2026Suddenly and unexpectedly at home, Gordon George McKnight passed away. He was a hardworking, kind and gentle man. Gord grew up on the family dairy farm in Selby, Ontario. His love for all things farming related, led him to obtain his diploma in Agriculture at Guelph and then get his Honours BSc in Agriculture degree, majoring in resource management, at the University of Guelph.
When he moved to Windsor to raise his family, he chose to follow a new career path by running one of his father-in-lawβs Midas Shops. He later moved to London to work at the Cami Automotive plant where he remained until he retired in 2009.
Retirement was not Gordβs favourite word and immediately after leaving Cami he began to build up his lawn fertilizing and weed control business, Lawn Pro. His business allowed him to apply his agricultural background, be outdoors and interact with his clients. To him, lawn season was 11 months of the year. He continued to run his lawn business up until the day he died.
But loving his job as much as he did, his favourite job was being a father and a grandfather. Gord took immense pleasure in sharing with everyone his pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, both educational and in their personal endeavors. Family, immediate and extended were everything to Gord.
Gord leaves behind his life partner, Catherine Burke, his four children Stephen McKnight (Heather), Sheri Livingston (Corey), Selina Rehman (Lee) and Scott McKnight (Kim). He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as Grandpa Banjo and he will be deeply missed by each of them, Rhys, Lauren, Ally, Blake, Lincoln, Lucille, Stella, Ruby, Braxton, McKenna and Macy. He was looking forward to meeting his twin grandchildren in July.
Dear brother and brother-in-law of Lois McKnight (the late Harold); Anne and Ron Thompson; Carolyn and Harold Closs; Sandy Burns; Chris Burke and Denise Reardon. Fondly remembered by mother-in-law Mary Lou Burke, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents George and Ethel McKnight, and father-in-law Clifford Burke.
Gord will be missed dearly by his family, but he can rest easy knowing that he was well loved and his values and strong work ethic will carry on in his name.
