MELO, Armando DaCosta Lopes Melo

Passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Lisaard House, at the age of 91.

Armando DaCosta Lopes Melo was the beloved husband of Maria DoCarmo for 67 years, and their marriage stood as a beautiful example of enduring love, partnership, and commitment. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, kindness, and togetherness. He was the proud father of Tony and his wife Eulalia, and he found great joy in the generations that followed. He was the cherished grandfather of Brittany and her husband Mike, Aaron and his wife Rachel, and Justine and her husband Ryan. He was also a treasured great-grandfather to Zara, Kingston, Odin, Austen, Eden, and Merritt, each of whom brought him immense happiness and pride.

Born in Santa Maria, Portugal on November 12, 1934, Armando was the son of the late Jose Lopes Melo and Maria Trindad Costa. He was also the dear brother of Joao Lopes Melo (Rosa), Jose Lopes Melo (Isabel), Manuel Lopes Melo (Virginia), Antonio Lopes Melo (Maria), and Alfred Lopes Melo (Dinaria). He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Armando lived with humility and grace. He was known for his loving nature, his generosity of spirit, and his thoughtful way of caring for others. He had a special fondness for spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and these moments were among the greatest joys of his later years.

Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St. N., where family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 6pm – 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, 10:30am, at St. Ambrose RC Church, 210 South St. Burial will follow at Parklawn Cemetery. Memorial donations made to Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family (payable by cheque or online using the link below).
