MELTZER, Susan Regina Meltzer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Regina Meltzer. She passed away on Saturday morning at Lakeridge health in Oshawa after a short but fierce battle with cancer. Predeceased by her mother Lena Meltzer (Slotnick) and father Samuel Harry Meltzer.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son Jeremy (Robin), her husband Mark, her adoring grandson Carter, her brothers and sisters Ruth (Darrell), Risa (Brett), Ross (Ilana), and Mark (Meaw), Nieces and nephews, Jason, Marli, Jesse, Shane, Colt, Lee-Elle, JJ, Mikaela, and Harriet, her brother in-law Terry (Diana), her husband’s children, Nathanial, Mark, Royden, and Melinda and their beautiful children and all her other family and friends.

Susan was an amazing mother, sister, friend and teacher to so many people. She was warm and funny with a passion for music, sports, and prose (especially romantic poetry). She had a quick wit, and a great sense of humour. You knew that she loved you when she was playfully teasing you.

She was a leader, a mentor, and a trailblazer both at work and at home. She won many awards for her contributions to her work, and to the development of the industry as a whole. Just two weeks ago, she accepted a lifetime achievement award from the Risk Insurance Management  Society (RIMS).

Despite her amazing accomplishments and achievements, Susan was a humble woman, who loved to learn. She was an amazing listener and could always be counted on for support.

Her work took her around the world, and she had the pleasure of taking her son Jeremy on many of her adventures. Together they explored far off places and cultures and reinforced a strong mother-son bond that lasted a lifetime.

Susan and her husband, Mark retired to a life by the lake, and she enjoyed a more relaxing lifestyle for the last several years. She loved being by a campfire, reading on her front deck, and laughing out loud with her beloved grandson.

Susan will be dearly missed by so many friends, family, and colleagues. She will forever be in our hearts and our memory.
