Michael Collin Newman
March 22, 1975 – September 7, 2026
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Michael Collin Newman spent his life rooted in the outdoors, growing up in Regina where his passion for nature fully took hold. Michael fell in love with fishing and hunting at an early age alongside his grandfather. That passion stayed with him throughout his life, becoming a cornerstone of his friendships—he was known by all who spent time with him as a skilled angler and an expert marksman. Michael passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his children, following complications from a pedestrian accident.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Christine Newman; father Bill StoneChild; mother Linda Jean Newman; paternal grandparents Richard Charles Newman and Shirley Jean Newman; and his aunt, Deborah Lynn Schoenthal.
He leaves behind a strong legacy through his loving children: his sons Richard Newman and Anthony Newman; and his daughter, Grace Newman. Michael will also be deeply missed by his sister Jennifer Keen/Newman; niece Hannah Fellner; uncle Donald Schoenthal; cousin Don Jr. Schoenthal; and his cousins April and Ryan Dalrymple, along with their children, Emma, Jack-Ryan, and Rider-Jackson.
Above all, Michael cherished the deep bond he shared with his family and his numerous lifelong friends who meant the world to him.
Respecting the family's wishes for privacy, a private family gathering will take place. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Michael are invited to make a donation to Carmichael Outreach.
