MILLAR, Anna Millar
September 4, 1959 - March 4, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Anna Millar, née Garcea, who departed peacefully on March 4th, 2026 at the age of 66, at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood.
Born in the heart of Calabria, Italy, Anna journeyed to Canada as a young child, carrying with her the rich traditions, resilience, and warmth of her heritage. She spent her life building a bridge between two worlds, creating a home in Canada that was always filled with the spirit of her Italian upbringing.
For over 30 years, Anna dedicated herself to the vocation of teaching. As an elementary school educator, she was more than just a teacher; she was a mentor, a role model, and a champion for her students. Her patience and kindness touched the lives of hundreds of students, leaving an indelible mark on the community she served so faithfully.
Anna also found deep joy in exploring the world. An avid traveler, Anna visited over 60 countries. She believed that seeing the world was the greatest form of education, a lesson she passionately shared, instilling a lifelong love of discovery and adventure in her children.
Above all, Anna was the heartbeat of her family. She was the devoted and beloved daughter of Giuseppa “Pina” and Onofrio Garcea, deeply loved by her brothers Frank and Ralph and their families. She was the wife of Aidan, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and adventure, the proud and nurturing mother to her two children Catherine and Kevin, and loving mother-in-law to Shane and Adele. Finally, Anna was the most incredible nonna to her three greatest joys: Siena, Savanna, and Henry. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in watching them grow.
Her legacy of love, hard work, and education will continue to live on through her family and the many lives she shaped in and out of the classroom.
“To teach is to touch a life forever.”
