With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Raffaele Morano, the beloved husband of Mariella and cherished father of Giuseppe (late Frances), Antonio (Jacqueline), Chiara (Michael) and Claudia (Giuseppe). He was a proud nonno of Olivia (Ziyad), Anthony, Jonathan, Mia, Matthew, Laila, Maia, Chloe, Noemi, Stella, Duke and Gigi and bisnonno to Mecca. Raffaele was a pillar of strength, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by his family at 90 years old.
Born on April 3, 1935, in the simple town of San Nicola di Crissa, Italy, Raffaele’s life was marked by resilience, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones. He immigrated to Canada with little more than a dream and an unshakable determination to build a better life. From those humble beginnings, he founded R. Morano Wholesale Fruits and Vegetables, a company he nurtured from the ground up with tireless dedication, relentless grit, and a sense of integrity that never wavered.
Raffaele never missed a day of work – or a Sunday mass at St. Fidelis Parish. His belief in God, doing right by others, and the importance of prayer, was a quiet constant in his life. He was a man of deep faith and discipline, whose strength and drive were matched only by his generosity. The Morano house was more than a home – it was a hub of life, where the door was always open and the kitchen always full of food and laughter. The backyard garden, where Raffaele grew green beans, tomatoes and figs, was not just about the produce. Tending to the garden was a time to pause with family, be patient, instill tradition, and a lesson to stand tall through every season of life. Raffaele’s family honors the life he lived, the love he gave, and the unwavering foundation he laid for them.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Hospital for Sick Children in honor of Raffaele’s deep love and enduring compassion for children. The family wishes to thank the team of PSWs, in particular Marilou, for their compassionate care and support.
