MOREIRA, Maria Soares Moreira

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Maria Soares Moreira on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the age of 87, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.  Maria was born on August 4, 1939, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. Maria was the beloved daughter of Antonio Soares and Anna Figueiredo. She was a devoted wife to Antonio Moreira for 38 years who predeceased him in March of 1996.  Maria was a loving mother to Lucy (Rodger), Joe (Karen) and Denis (Candice). She was a cherished Grandmother to Trevor, Jenny, Matthew, Chandler, Halle, Tyler, Piper, Peyton and Great Grandmother to Cash, Brooklyn, Layla, Sofie and Arianna.  Maria will also be missed by her brother and sister Antonio and Connie. Maria will also meet her son in heaven Jose and her sisters Emily and Filomena and brother Jose.  Maria will be fondly remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength and sense of humour. She found joy in gardening, cooking and traveling and most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her warmth and compassion.  The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care and support.  Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, N., Cambridge on Thursday, July 9^th, 2026, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount View Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria’s memory may be made to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
