MURPHY, Geraldine Ann Murphy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Geraldine(Gerry) Ann Murphy, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, on August 13, 2026, at 76 years old. Geraldine passed peacefully at Hillsdale Terraces Long Term Care in Oshawa, surrounded by family. She faced the hardships of her illness with grace, fierce determination, and a bright smile that inspired everyone who knew her.
Geraldine will be forever remembered by her devoted husband of 55 years, Kevin, and her four cherished children: Suzanne (Gary) Meade of Oshawa, Elaine (Colin) McReynolds of Kitchener, Colleen (Victor) Iacobelli of Caledon, and John (Amy) Murphy of Chalk River. She was also a proud and adoring grandmother to Nicole and Mathew, Sadie and Finley, Colin and Zachary, Arminio and Vittorio, Georgia, step-grandchildren Luciano and Julian, and her great-granddaughter Alina. Geraldine’s sister Carmel (Elwin) of Chapel Arm, her brother Leo of Bellevue, as well as many extended family members and friends, will cherish her memory and deeply miss her warmth, kindness, and love.
Prior to raising a family, Gerry worked as a registered nursing assistant in Labour & Delivery at Toronto East General Hospital. Once her family had grown, she returned to school to upgrade her credentials to registered nurse. With extensive training in critical care, she practiced in the state of Kansas for a short time before returning to Canada. Her unwavering ability to care for people was a talent.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
Cremation has taken place. She will be interred and peacefully reunited with her loving parents, Leo and Agnes, dear sisters Mary and Barbara, and beloved brothers Michael and Peter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity of choice in Geraldine’s memory.
