MURPHY, Gwendoline Murphy

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gwendoline Naomi Murphy, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Gwen was the beloved wife of Garnet Lynch and devoted mother to Heather, Joy-Anne, and Grey. She was the cherished grandmother to Chris, Aisha, Noah, and Aaron, and great-grandmother to Azari, Zakai, Bria, and Zaviya.

She is survived by her siblings Beverly, Joan, Zelma, Hal, Marica (sister-in-law), Everton, Fred, Gay, Grantley, and Barbara, and many cousins including Wendy, Shirley, and Ann. She was predeceased by her sister Michelle.

Originally from Barbados, Gwen courageously came to Canada to build a better future for her family. She was an active church member, a longtime employee at the Hospital for Sick Children, and a teacher and guide to many. She will be remembered for her generous heart, love of sweets, and the precious time she spent with family.

We will miss you deeply. You will forever be in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospital for Sick Children.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at De Stefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Dr. Oshawa. Service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm, with internment to follow at Thorton Cemetery.
