Maureen Joanne Murphy

November 15, 1940 – October 28, 2025

Smiling elderly woman sitting outside on bench.

She was born in Galt (Cambridge), Ontario on November 15, 1940, in her parent’s home on Blair Road. She was the eldest daughter of Alex and Dorothy Pawelko (Laur). She was a lifelong resident of Cambridge.

Maureen and her husband, Ronald, were married at First United Church on June 2, 1961. She leaves to mourn her son, Brian (Annie Deslauriers), and her daughter, Lesley. Her brother, David, and sister-in-law, Carol Pawelko, share in the family’s loss, as do her brother-in-law, Gordon Murphy, and his wife, Jean, and Maureen’s sister-in-law, Linda Murphy.
Maureen’s grandsons, Benjamin and Henry, will also remember their grandmother with great affection as they spent many days in her company in their younger years. Maureen is predeceased by her husband Ronald Murphy, and her brothers Richard and Gerry Pawelko.

Maureen was a long-time enthusiastic member of the staff at Glenview Park Secondary School. She had several different roles there including supporting the student activities office, the main office, the library and the guidance office.
Maureen was a member of the congregation of Central Presbyterian Church, and a volunteer at the Cambridge Public Library.

Family and friends are invited to join the family for a service of remembrance at the Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St N. Cambridge, on Monday November 10, 2025, at 1PM., with the family receiving guests following the service.

At this time, we thank you, but please no flowers. A donation to Cambridge Memorial Hospital or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
