NICHOLSON, Lauren Petrina Nicholson

Passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 15, 1980, in Farnborough, England, to John Nicholson and Petrina Bowie, Lauren moved to Canada as a child and grew up in Oakville, Ontario.

Lauren Petrina Nicholson lived a life defined by empathy, kindness, wit and boundless love. She met the love of her life, Dayton Ball, at the age of 18 in high school. They shared a beautiful 28-year journey together, 15 of those in a marriage built on laughter, support, and a deep devotion to each other. As a mother, Lauren was the heart and anchor of her home. She raised her three boys with lots of fun, snuggles, and endless encouragement. She understood them all keenly and imparted wisdom, comfort and gentle strength as they progressed through their early years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her close-knit family, engaged directly in her kids’ lives, cooking and sharing Sunday dinners, camping in the tent trailer, and celebrating birthdays, Christmas and life’s many milestones with enthusiasm.

Professionally, Lauren brought her sharp intellect to her career as a paralegal, a legal researcher, and most recently as a law clerk, work she relished. In her free time Lauren loved to relax at the cottage, support their kids’ activities, dine at fine restaurants, enjoy a glass of red wine, and cook elaborate meals with her husband Dayton on their Saturday date nights. Lauren had a keen sense of humour and was known for making her friends, family and colleagues laugh and also had a deep love for and understanding of animals.

Lauren is survived by her loving husband, Dayton; her three cherished children, Oliver, Keenan, and Arlo Ball; her caring parents, John Nicholson (Jennifer Jeffs) and Petrina Bowie; her mother-in-law, Diane (Jim) Millington; her stepmother-in-law, Pat Mangan-Ball; and her devoted siblings, Ashley (Morgan), Felicia, Luke, and Marina Nicholson. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Bria (Michael) Knowles, Kira (Dalton) L’Heureux and Jiang Millington; her brothers-in-law, Chris (Laurie) Millington and Graeme (Amy) Millington; and her adored nieces and nephews, Jack, Ben, Sam, Max, Finn, Emmett, Gwen, Austin, Zachary, Theodore, Dora, Geneva, Roger, Mandela, and Mulan, alongside many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Spencer; her father-in-law, Robert Ball; her brother-in-law, Scott Millington; and her nephew, Owen Millington. She also leaves behind her dog, Buster, and her cat, Mango, both of whom brought immense joy to her daily life and great comfort during these last months.
