It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Karen O’Leary at age 70. Surrounded by her children, Karen passed at St. Michael’s Hospital on Wednesday May 7, 2025.She was the cherished and supportive mother to Matthew (Jessica) and Meghan (Ryan). She was the extremely devoted and proud Grandma to Declyn, Callum and Georgia. Loving sister to Peter, Susan (Jim) and John (Wen). Dear daughter of Donald & the late Bernice (nee: Jenkins) Fletcher.

Karen was an accomplished ball player, and proud of it. She spent decades playing slo-pitch with many teams and made many lifelong, beloved friends. She loved visiting artisan markets and supporting her local community. She was a proud sports mom, supporting Matthew through his youth and teen years as he excelled in both baseball and hockey. She imparted on Meghan, her love for crafts and the beauty of handmade pieces. Karen was incredibly supportive and involved in her role as Grandma to Dex, Cal and G. She beamed when talking about her love and adoration for her grandkids. Spending time attending Callum and Declyn’s sports and being “silly Grandma” while playing with Georgia. Her greatest happiness were her children and grandkids.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the incredibly caring nurses and doctors at St. Mike’s that went above and beyond in caring for Karen and the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation.
