OVENSTONE, Valerie Ovenstone

She died suddenly on Monday May 11, 2026 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie at the age of 79. Valerie of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Phelpston, devoted partner of Stan Paley for over 40 years.

Predeceased by her father John Halliday, mother Catherine, and step mother Rita. Loving mother of Jamie (Lisa) and Justin (Lori) and doting grandmother of Evan, Brody, Addison, Scarlett, and Irelynn. Valerie Ovenstone will also be missed by her extended family Beverley, Leah (Phil), Sandra (Marco), Steven, Joyce, Rosanne (John) and the late Stephen (Pat), and her nieces and nephews; John Michael (Kim), Julie Anne, Mischa, Sachi, Taylor, Rachel and their families.

Valerie was a kind and generous woman who made and kept friends easily. She had a wonderful sense of humour and her gag gifts at Christmas were always received with anticipation. She enjoyed creating with her hands –quilting, sewing, knitting, as well as painting. Her greatest passion was time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and watching them play sports. She was their biggest supporter.

Friends are invited to join her family at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Friday May 15, 2026 from 2 to 4 p.m. for a time of remembrance. If desired, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by Valerie’s family.
