She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Waterdown, where she had lived for the past 13 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Montague (Monty) in August 2006. Left to mourn her passing are her great-grandchildren: Tyler and Logan Stanton of Ottawa; Lily, Taye and Kai Williams of Waterdown; Julia and Adam Sharp of Dundas; her grandchildren Lauren Owens (Matt Stanton) of Ottawa; Daniel Owens of Etobicoke; Lyndsey (John Matt) Williams of Waterdown; James Sharp (Steph Dimoski) of Hamilton; Jeremy (Caroline) Sharp of Welland; and her 2 children, John (Marie) Owens of Innisfil; and Mary (Ron) Sharp of Burlington and Haliburton.

Gwendolyn Alice Owens was born and grew up in Toronto, to her parents Henry William Day and Eliza Lovett, and was the youngest of 5 children, all of whom predeceased her. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews in Ontario and Utah.

She and Monty raised their children in Toronto and Brampton. They were keen golfers, and into curling as well, and enjoyed travelling, especially on cruise ships. Gwen worked as a bookkeeper many years ago for CPI in Toronto, and at Streetsville Glen Golf Course. She got her first iPad when she was 90, and was still using it daily to read the Toronto Star, check the weather, email, and FaceTime with family.

Our many thanks to the dedicated staff at Waterdown Family Medical Clinic, especially Carol, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Randy Cross, Dr. Ghobrial and Dr. Neeb for their many years of care, to Earlene Nicholson for being a true and caring friend in recent years, to her faith communities, Grace Church Waterdown and St. George’s Haliburton, and to staff at the Village Manor in Waterdown.

Funeral service will be at GRACE ANGLICAN CHURCH, on Saturday, June 6th, at 12:00 p.m., with visiting beforehand at 11 a.m., and reception to follow in Noble Hall. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Grace Church, 157 Mill St. N. PO Box 727, Waterdown, L0R 2H0, or St. George’s Anglican Church, 617 Mountain St., PO Box 92, Haliburton K0M 1S0. Gwen watched live-streamed services faithfully, from both churches.
