It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of George Palinkas on July 5, 2026, at Sunnybrook Hospital, at the age of 92. Beloved husband of 54 years to Veronika, George was a devoted and loving father to Veronica (Peter Kontos) and a proud and cherished grandfather to Peter Jr.
George came to Canada in 1957 and was always grateful to the country and its citizens, who welcomed him and supported him in building a new and better life.
George dedicated many years of service as a Chef at the Amber Cupola and later cooked at the University of Guelph, where he was respected for his professionalism, dedication, and kindness. His rose garden and love of gardening was well known in his former Guelph neighborhood.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His strength and compassion touched many lives, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
