Reverend Vitaliano Papais passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 85. Ordained on June 28, 1964, for the Diocese of Concordia-Pordenone, Italy, Fr. Papais dedicated 61 years to his priestly vocation.
He served as Associate Pastor and Pastor in multiple parishes including St. Wilfrid’s, Sts. Peter and Paul, St. Fidelis, St. Peter’s in Woodbridge, St. Norbert’s, St. Bernard de Clairvaux, and St. Nicholas of Bari. Later, he was Administrator at St. Patrick’s Parish in Brampton. Even in retirement at Casa del Zotto, Toronto, he continued to celebrate Masses at Casa Abruzzo and St. Alphonsus Parish.
As a cherished family member and friend, Fr. Papais was known lovingly as “Zio” and was a source of wisdom, joy, and spiritual guidance. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the faith he nurtured.
