PARK, Barry Jean Park
October 9, 1928
Passed at Trilogy LTC Home in Scarborough after 97 vibrant years of life.
Barry was born on October 9, 1928 on a farm in New Brunswick where she had a happy childhood. At age 14 she moved to the east end of Toronto where she earned top marks in high school. She and Al married and moved to Scarborough where they raised their three children and enjoyed many years of sailing on Lake Ontario. She then started working at Woolworth’s and moved up to the head office of Woolco. After her retirement, she turned her considerable energy to volunteering at Taylor Place where she was a fixture of the Don Mills seniors scene.
Barry was an avid life-long bowler, regular member of bid euchre clubs in her golden years, and was always ready to dress up and jump on the dance floor. She was often planning a trip somewhere exciting, the West and East coasts of Canada, Calgary, Great Britain, and the Caribbean, and loved every experience. Barry also kept busy in Ontario, taking bus tours with her seniors group, or just planning her next trip to one of her children’s houses, to help with the grandkids or the next big holiday get-together. Her positive nature, good humour and ability to have fun will be remembered by all who loved her.
Barry was a loving mother to daughter Susan and son-in-law Jim Scott, and daughter-in-law Cathie Park. She is fondly remembered by her dear grandchildren Geoff, Matthew, Joel, Stephanie and Christopher, and her four great-grandchildren. She was sadly predeceased by her beloved husband Alex Park, daughter Lynne Bird (née Park), son-in-law Rod Bird, and son Steve Park.
