PARKES, Anna Parkes

Passed away peacefully at Southbridge Owen Sound on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Born in Owen Sound on July 9, 1959, Anna Jean Parkes of Owen Sound was in her 68th year.

Beloved mother of Kima Parkes of Owen Sound. Treasured daughter of Muriel Parkes of Owen Sound. Loving sister of Graham Parkes (Dale) of Owen Sound. Cherished aunt of Michelle, Jeffrey, Jacqueline (Brandon), Kadence, and Kellan. Anna will also be missed by her dear cousin Steve Lenz (Iris), as well as many other cousins and friends.

Predeceased by her father Alan Parkes, brother Guy Parkes, special friend Gerry Gnaedig, grandparents Rae and Charlie Parkes and Jean and Stan Carr, uncle Merv Lenz (Doreen) and by her cousin Marty Lenz.

Anna’s larger-than-life personality and sense of humour left a lasting impression. She owned Annie’s Bistro in Washington State and later became a popular server at Norma Jean’s in Owen Sound. A former lifeguard and driving instructor, Anna enjoyed gardening, singing, animals, Little Theatre, and helping others. Her warmth, charisma and kindness made her truly special. Anna will always be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

In keeping with Anna’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside celebration will be held at a later date. Private arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
