PARKINSON, Roy Alden Parkinson

It is with profound sadness and grateful remembrance that we announce the passing of Roy Alden Parkinson on Wednesday July 9th, 2025, at 97 years of age. Roy was a man of quiet strength, boundless generosity, and steadfast devotion – qualities that shaped the very fabric of our family.

Roy was predeceased by his beloved wife Marjorie (2020), and will be dearly missed by his son Ian Parkinson (Carolyn), daughter Kathleen Hopper (Bill), grandchildren Andrew (Monica), Daniel (Jocelyn), and Thomas (Chelsea), as well as great grandsons Benjamin and Edward.

A lifelong resident of the Beach in Toronto, Roy was born and raised in a loving family. He was predeceased by his parents Marshall Robert and Marjorie Louise Parkinson, his four brothers, Melville (Betty), Warren, Grenville, Jack and his sister Marjorie.

Above all, Roy cherished his family – particularly his wife Marjorie, his partner, soul mate and best friend. His love for her and their family was the foundation upon which he built his life. That love and his unwavering commitment shone brightly through his dedication to the family business and in the quiet, steady way he guided his family through life’s challenges, always placing their needs before his own.

Roy’s wonderful sense of humour brought joy to those around him, his kindness extended to friends and neighbours whether fixing something broken, offering a helping hand, or clearing a driveway after a snowfall. In all things, Roy lived life with integrity, compassion and an ever-giving heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.

As per Roy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Traditions of Durham and the Palliative Care team at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their compassion and care.
