Paula Eid passed away peacefully and joined our Heavenly Father’s embrace on Tuesday, September 8th in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, aged 60.
Paula was the beloved daughter of Jihad and the late Maurice; compassionate twin sister of Assaad (Lina), as well as the sister of Pascale (Ziad) and Patty (Omar); and the joyfully loving aunt to Lara (Carl), Alissia (David), Mauricio (Cloe), Antonio, Thomas, Halley, and Mia. She joins her father Maurice Eid in the safe hands of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Paula was born to Jihad and Maurice Eid in Beirut, Lebanon, on July 31st, 1966. In 1988, she moved to Canada with her family and resided in Ottawa, Ontario, before moving to Kelowna, British Columbia in 2012. Throughout her time in Ottawa, she worked in a hair salon for many years, and she was loved by so many friends and colleagues. She was devoted to her church, St. Charbel, attending mass every Sunday. In 2005, her life was altered forever in a devastating car accident that left her severely injured. She fought long and hard in her road to recovery, and through her perseverance and faith, made a recovery to be proud of. This life changing event was a major factor in her desire to give back to her community, where she served as a volunteer at Kelowna General Hospital from 2012-2019. Her years of devotion to her fellow citizens in Kelowna led to her being awarded the BC Community Achievement Award in 2019. Despite such accolades, her most meaningful reward was seeing each and every smile she received in the hospital halls from patients on a daily basis. For those who know Paula well, you would know she was ever devoted to her faith, praying the rosary on a daily basis, and going to mass every Sunday, whether in Ottawa or Kelowna. She was a beacon of joy, compassion, and laughter, not only with her family and friends, but with everyone she met as she served her community with unwavering dedication as a volunteer at KGH.
A funeral service will be held in Kelowna on Monday, September 14th at 10:00AM, at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Rd. Her funeral services will then follow at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, at 1:00PM.
For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation and/or St Charles Garnier Parish will be greatly appreciated.
We would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses at KGH, especially Dr. Butterworth and Dr. Blinkhorn, for their compassion, and all the staff at Mission Creek Landing, who provided excellent care for Paula.
