PAVAO, Manuel T. Pavao

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Manuel on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the age of 85.

Manuel was born in Pico de Mafra, Mosterios, São Miguel, Azores on October 21, 1939, and immigrated to Canada in March of 1971.

Beloved husband to Gilberta (Faria) for 60 years. Cherished father of Margarida (Jose) Carvalho, Rui (Rosemary De Sousa), Simas (Christine Harding), Sergio (Suzanne Caetano), and Daniel. Proud Avo of 12 grandchildren: Verissimo, Euzebio, Samantha, Lucas, Januario, Zackary, Agusta, Sylvanna, Aurora, Orlando, Levi, and Emilio, and great-grandfather to Amara.

Manuel was the dear brother of the late Maria de Luz (late Manuel Alves), late Conceicao (late Jose Viveiros), Maria Jose (late Joao Oliveria), Jose (Leonor Grota), Joao Santa (Henriqua) of the Azores, and Ida (Jose Miguel Benttecurt), also in the Azores. He will also be missed by his brother-in-law Bento Faria (Venilde), and was predeceased by Maria Bento (late Miguel Pavao), Jose Faria, and Silvana.

Manuel had three Godchildren who were special to him, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He worked as an industrial roofer for 30 years (Local 537). His greatest joys were his family, his garden, and the grapevine he lovingly tended to.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Willowgrove Age Care for their compassion and care.

Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton St. E., on Wednesday, July 23, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington.

Donations made to St. Joseph’s Hospital or Willowgrove Age Care would be appreciated by the family.
