With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gloria Louise Perry, who left us peacefully on May 21, 2025, at the age of 88. Gloria was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her loving children: Julie Ann Moriarity (Vince), Jeff Perry (Robin), and Janice Smith (Bill). A proud grandmother to Ryan Moriarity (Portia), Blair Drydak (Jesse), Cole Moriarity (Lindsey), Brock Perry, Ella Perry (Nash), Nicco Darisi (Bri), Cody Smith, Shane Smith, and Brandon Smith. Her legacy lives on through great-grandchildren: Jack Drydak, Nellie Drydak, Charlotte Moriarity, Baby Moriarity (due in July), Leo Darisi, and Lanah Darisi.
Gloria will be dearly missed by her lifelong friend Marlene Lane and many others. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Richard Perry (2011), her parents Alfred and Madeline Hutchison, sister Diane Dunseath, and many dear friends.
Gloria worked as a nurse on the surgical floor and later in the pharmacy at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a longtime, proud member of the Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, forming lifelong friendships. Gloria also cherished her Wednesday night bridge games, Thursday coffee group, and YMCA exercise group.
Above all, she was “Nanny” – the ever-present cheerleader in her grandchildren’s lives. Whether at a school event, sporting match, or recital, she was there with her warm smile and unwavering support.
Visitation will take place at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., also at Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gloria Perry may be made to Bluewater Health Palliative Care (cheques only at the funeral home, please).
