It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Giuseppina Ziccarelli Porco.
Giuseppina, at the age of 95, passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2026, at Oshawa Lakeridge Hospital. Married for 43 years. The wife of the late Genesio (2000). Devoted and loving mother of Rose (Ralph), Joe, Marisa (late Angelo), Roberta (Stephen), Mike (Annette).
Cherished Nonna of Daniel, Christopher (Heather), Andrew (Brittany), Brianna (Daniel), Michael (Jessica), Matthew, Jessica (Zachary), Cristina and Nicholas (Genevya). Loving great grandmother to her 9 great grandchildren, Eden, Ella, Karen, Felix, Livy, Nolan, Josephine, Darcy and Michael Jr.
Giuseppina will be greatly missed by her brother Frank and wife Ada, brother-in-law Frank Politano and sister-in-law Carolina Giglio in Italy.
Predeceased by her parents, Giuseppe Ziccarelli (1940) and Raffaela Metallo (1993), brothers Antonio (1943), Giovanni (2009) and sisters Mafalda (at birth), Ada Belmonte (2025) and Angela Politano (2008). Giuseppina will also be missed by her cousins both in Toronto and in Italy, nieces, nephews and long-time close friends.
A very special thank you to mom’s personal caregivers Mae, Ana and Monaliza for their constant patience and kindness while taking wonderful care of our mom.
A woman whose life was a beautiful expression of faith, love and kindness. To her family and grandchildren who always wanted to know what her secret ingredient to make her famous homemade tomato sauce for pasta…. It was love.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Giuseppina’s name can be made to either the Hospital for Sick Children or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Visitation will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West Oshawa, on Wednesday August 5, 2026, from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the People Catholic Church, 570 Stevenson Rd. N. Oshawa on Thursday August 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. Entombment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Whitby to follow.
Visitation will take place at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, ON L1J2L4, CA, on August 5, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
A Religious Ceremony for Giuseppina Porco will be held at St. Mary of the People, 570 Marion Ave, Oshawa, ON L1J 3B9, CA, on August 6, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
