PORTER, Patrick Mark Porter
November 10, 1949 - February 9, 2026At the center of his life was his beloved wife, Mary Porter, with whom he shared 46 years of love and partnership. Together they built a life grounded in loyalty, respect, and quiet commitment. He is survived by extended family members and many dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He held a special place in the hearts of his sister-in-law Valerie Sweetapple, brother-in-law Neil Sweetapple, and his treasured niece Ashley, whom he loved deeply and treated like a granddaughter.
Patrick was predeceased by his parents, Theresa and George.
An avid firearms collector and lifelong learner, Pat was a true scholar of his craft. Entirely self-taught through the many books he eagerly devoured, he developed a deep knowledge not only of firearms, but of history and many subjects that sparked his curiosity. He took pride in sharing what he knew, always teaching with exceptional patience, precision, and an unwavering emphasis on safety. He believed knowledge should be respected — and shared respectfully.
An entrepreneur in spirit, Patrick also taught himself the art of locksmithing, another reflection of his independence and determination. He valued craftsmanship, discipline, and doing things the right way.
Pat was kind, thoughtful, and a steady presence in the lives of those around him. He wasn’t flashy or loud; instead, he offered something far more lasting — a listening ear, sound advice, and quiet strength. Those who knew him appreciated his wisdom, his humility, and the calm confidence he carried.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mya Miller, Sheldon Summers, JJ Johnson, Anthony Harvey, and the many others whose support and kindness meant so much during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 24th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legion Branch 356 in Sutton in his memory.
Patrick’s legacy of knowledge, patience, and quiet integrity will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed. 🤍
