It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Harry Wade Powless on April 22, 2026, at his home in Ohsweken, Ontario, at the age of 73.

Harry Wade Powless was born on January 4, 1953, in Ohsweken, Ontario. He spent the majority of his adult life in British Columbia, where he worked as a cement mason alongside his brother Darryl, who was also his best friend.

Harry was a talented lacrosse player and played for many teams across Canada with his brothers, proudly coached by his father, Ross. He loved salmon fishing out west, and enjoyed fishing on the Grand River and hunting with his family when he returned home for visits. Harry had a great sense of humour and was a skilled cook and baker, much like his mother. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family and for the handsome grin he would flash to light up any room.

He is survived by the love of his life, Susan McCall of Hamilton, Ontario.

He will be deeply missed by his siblings: Gail Ayres; Audrey Powless-Bomberry (Jim Bomberry); Arlene Martin (Dan); Richard (Effie Panousos); Karen Martin (Jerry); Tony; and Jacqui Powless (Ron Lynes). He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Patti Powless and Dennise Maracle, along with many nieces and nephews.

Harry was predeceased by his parents, Wilma and Ross Powless; his siblings, Gaylord, Gary, Gregory, Victor, Jeffrey, and Darryl; and his nephews, Darren Martin and Christopher Powless.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his brother Tony for looking out for Harry at their apartment complex, and for the daily visits with his dog Bear, which Harry always looked forward to seeing both of you.

Harry will be remembered with love by all who knew him.

At Harry’s request cremation has taken place.   Arrangements by Styres Funeral Home, Ohsweken.
