PROSSER, Shirley Laura Prosser

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Laura Thomas Prosser, who passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in her 90th year.

Shirley lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her strength, independence, and unwavering passion for the things she loved most.

A pioneering equestrian, Shirley was known as the β€œTeenage Jumping Ace” and made history as the first woman to ride on an International Canadian Team. She achieved international success at a young age, including wins at Madison Square Gardens, and went on winning multiple events while representing Canada in Europe, earning recognition for her skill and determination.

Her lifelong love of horses continued beyond competition, as she later devoted herself to breeding and racing thoroughbred racehorses at Box Arrow Farm.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Laura. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Christopher (Marianne), daughter Ruth (Sherrie), niece Jill (Arthur) and family and her cherished grandchildren Thomas (Raha), Tracy (Tomasz), and Fletcher (Dustin). Shirley was also a proud great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy.

Shirley’s circle of friends was wide, and she touched countless lives with her generosity, wit, and spirit. She shared a special bond with Gordon and Sandy, and her care-giver Maria, whose presence brought comfort and companionship for many years.

A dedicated businesswoman, Shirley deeply valued her devoted employeesβ€”Steve, Ed, and Priscillaβ€”whose loyalty and years of service meant so much to her.

Shirley will be remembered for her strength, her passion for life, and her deep connections with those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and quiet determination.

She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
