He passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the age of 92. Cremation has taken place, and he will be buried at a later date in St. Matthew’s United Church Cemetery in Afton, Nova Scotia. By Barnes Memorial Funeral Home

Born and raised in his beloved Bayfield, Nova Scotia, Gordon carried a lifelong affection for his hometown and the community that helped shape him.

Beloved husband of Mary “Joan” Randall. Cherished father of Arlene Lanting (George), Paul Randall (Brian), Allan Randall (Vee), and Richard Randall (Ron). Loved grandfather of Alyssa (Joel), Aaron, and Frank, and great-grandfather of Isaac. He is survived by his brothers Allan (Joan), Frank, and Earl (Irene), and his sisters Carol and Heather.

Gordon Frederick Randall was predeceased by his brother Herbert (Barbara, deceased), and by his parents, James and Mary Randall (Corkum).

During his years of teaching in Nova Scotia, Gordon saw many changes in education while working in schools in Halifax, Lochaber, Antigonish, Bayfield, Tracadie, and Monastery. Science was the last subject he ever expected to teach, but after being invited to try it, he was surprised by how much he loved it. He went on to become highly respected in the field throughout the province.

After retirement, Gordon and Joan ran a bed and breakfast together. Eventually, they moved to Ontario to be closer to their children.
